Kanyakumari (11km) This  is where three oceans meet: Bay of Bengal, the Indian Ocean and Arabian See. At full moon, it’s possible to enjoy the unique experience of seeing the sun set and the moon rise over the ocean simultaneously. Also a popular pilgrimage destination of great significance to Hindus. It is dedicated  to the goddess Kanyakumari, ‘youthful virgin’, who is an incarnation of Devi, Shiva’s wife. Visit Kanyakumari temple,Vivekananda memorial-on the rocky islands 500 mt offshore reachable with a ferry service,Thiruvalluvar Statue and Ghandi's Memorial, which overlooks the three oceans is another "must"; he chose this point for contemplation and it was from here that his ashes were scattered. Suchindram and Suchindram temple (8km) Dedicated to Indra, only a few km away from Tamarindia , can be visited by non HIndus. it is worth joining the Friday sunset ceremonies, it has a fantastic amount of stone carvings, it is a ‘must see’. Padmanabhapuram (25km) near Nagercoil, was once the seat  of the rulers of Travancore, a princely state during the days of the Raj which included a large part of today Kerala and the western littoral of Tamil Nadu. There is an old fort palace with fine 17th and 18th century murals on the topmost floor. The palace complex consisting in several structures continues to be one of the best examples of traditional Kerala architecture. Mundanthurai Tiger Sanctuary (100km) Mundanthurai is a Tiger sanctuary situated in the Tirunvelli district bordering Kerala. The567 sq. kilometers boast a varietyof forests ranging from dry deciduous to tropical wet evergreens interspersed with patches of reed producing wetland. Animal wealth includes Tiger, Bonnet macaque, Langurs, Slenders Loris, Sloth Bear, Sambhar, Chita and Wild dog. Excellent for various species of avi-fauna and verities of reptiles and insects. Trekking with prior permission from the Forest (Wildlife) Department, along trekking trails can be undertaken Nagercoil (9km) Nagercoil is a city and a municipality in Kanyakumari district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, It can be reached by local bus, tuc tuc or Taxi.You will find a big vegetable market and a bazaar, many  indian textile shops, pharmacy, local stores, supermarkets, restaurants as well as the Serpent God, Nagaraja temple.
